We are two years old now. The KGG covers 490 km of the BC Rockies in the East Kootenays. It's a tough route with approximately 25,000 feet of climbing. Our course is primarily made up of back country roads. There's not really any single track to speak of and just a small amount of paved road at the beginning, middle and end.
For 2016 the course has changed to head through Fernie instead of Sparwood. This dramatically reduces the amount of time on paved roads.
Our Grand Depart is set for July 23rd at 7am at the clock tower down town Cranbrook, BC. However, we understand that people want to start when they want to start. You can begin anytime on Friday, July 22 or Saturday, July 23rd. For that matter, do it anytime and post up your time and pictures.
Please make sure to check us out on Facebook in order to keep up to date on all the news and updates.
This is a ride of honour, so honour is the rule to live by. You know what is cheating, we know what is cheating. If you want a run down of the rules we are guided by check out what the Tour Divide says about what is kosher.
You don’t like rules? Neither do we, just ride and have fun. However, if you want to submit a time, please follow the rules.
